MEDICAL STUDENT PROGRAM

Santa Rosa Family Medicine Residency, in conjunction with the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, provides a six week Family Medicine clerkship for third year UCSF medical students. SRFMR also offers a four week clerkship for fourth-year medical students. The rotation provides a breadth of experiences. For fourth year medical students two weeks of the rotation is spent in the Family Practice Center, with additional time in the emergency room and in various community clinics. The remaining two weeks is spent providing inpatient care. Teaching is done by family physicians on the staff, as well as by volunteer community family physicians. The clerkship is not a prerequisite for acceptance into the residency program. It is recommended for any student (no matter what his or her future interests) who would like to have more exposure to family medicine in a community setting.
