Melanie Chow, MD
Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California.
Melanie was born and raised in the Bay Area. As the daughter of Cambodian refugees, she grew up acutely aware of the inequities many communities face in accessing essential resources, including healthcare. Her upbringing fostered a deep commitment to service and community. She earned her undergraduate degree in Molecular and Cell Biology at UC Berkeley, where she found her passion for education as a student instructor for human anatomy and a health worker |
for the Berkeley Student Cooperative. During her gap years, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, she contributed to vaccine research at Cedars-Sinai while also volunteering with Home-y Made Meals, preparing and delivering food to Los Angeles’s unhoused community.
Melanie went on to attend the Keck School of Medicine of USC, where she trained at Los Angeles General Medical Center, a major safety-net hospital. She remained deeply engaged in the community, volunteering at the Downtown Women’s Center and participating in street medicine with the Mobile Clinic Project. Her clinical experiences solidified her interest in preventative health, inpatient medicine, obstetrics, and reproductive health. She hopes to build long-lasting relationships with her patients, empowering them to take charge of their health and navigate the healthcare system with confidence.
Beyond medicine, Melanie finds joy in the great outdoors—whether climbing boulders, biking new trails, or tending to her garden. She is thrilled to return to Northern California to train with the Sutter Santa Rosa Family Medicine Residency Program!
