Elective Rotation: Advanced Wilderness Life Support
Contact: Teresa (TC) Robbins
Location: Zion National Park, Utah, USA
This was a well-organized, succinct course that made me feel more comfortable with triaging and managing difficult medical situations in the wilderness with minimal resources, including what to do in lightening strike scenarios, how to splint for various types of fractures and sprains, how to manage complications of altitude sickness, how to manage frostbite, how to treat bite injuries and how to evacuate a victim safely. There was lots of hands-on training and activities that kept us engaged in learning. They also provided plenty of time to explore the beautiful Zion National Park, which I appreciated!
