Elective Rotation: Inpatient Medicine at Kaiser Santa Rosa

Contact: Laura Kromann

Location: Santa Rosa

For my elective selective, I worked several “E” shifts at Kaiser Santa Rosa. I worked admitting patients to observation and inpatient status. It was a very high-yield experience as I typically did six admissions or so in an eight hour day and did not have to respond to floor calls or have other responsibilities. The patients were complex and had a range of medical diagnoses that we do not frequently see on our service. There were ample opportunities to interact closely and collaborate with specialists in a way that we do not typically do on our resident service. –by Olivia Gamboa
