Elective Rotation: POCUS course
Contact: Sara Martin

There was no change from my elective experiences and what I wrote on my elective form.
During my elective selective the primary bulk of my time was used attending a Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) course in Portland, OR and attending the AAFP Conference in Kansas City, MO.
The POCUS course was put on by the American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine (AIUM) and was really well organized and informative. A classmate and I both attended because the Contra Costa course didn’t work with our schedules and we both agreed we were glad that we had attended this one! I highly recommend it as a foundational course.
The AAFP Conference is always satisfying to attend, because it’s inspiring to see so many people passionate about family medicine. If I had it to do over again I would try to submit a poster to make maximum use of my time there.
