Elective Rotation: Refugee Camp In Greece

Contact: Jacqueline Abdalla, Dr. Sophie, Kai Wittstock
Location: Patras, Greece
I spent 3 weeks at an unofficial refugee camp in Patras, serving mostly Afghani and Pakistani men. They were sleeping in 2 abandoned factories while they attempted to jump onto cargo ships that leave the port daily in order to continue there journey west. Speaking Farsi, Urdu, or Arabic would have been a huge help, but we had a translator from a buddy NGO. They always have a need for providers (including nurses), so please consider spending time before or after residency, esp if you have any of these language skills!
