Elective Rotation: Spanish Immersion in Costa Rica

Contact: Margot Brown

Location: Turriabla, Costa Rica

I went to Costa Rica for a Spanish Immersion course through the Institute for Spanish Language Studies (ISLS). It was a phenomenal experience that I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to get a great cultural immersion and improve their Spanish. My Spanish was low intermediate before going on my trip and after I returned I was talking with most of my patients in spanish during their medical visits. The family I stayed with was incredible. I went to the town of Turriabla (a town in the mountains that sits right under a volcano) and got a good taste for life in a somewhat rural and isolated area of Costa Rica. If you are looking for an excellent spanish language school in a warm and safe county I would highly recommend ISLS.
