Elective Rotation: TCM in China

Contact: Jimmy Wu

Location: China

It was a great opportunity to learn TCM where it originated, and learn about a whole different health system in one of the most fascinating countries currently. You can also be part of a movement to establish more family practice training sites in China.

Great experience!

I followed Jimmy's lead and spent time with some of the same docs who joined us here in Santa Rosa over the years. It is a wonderful experience in cross-cultural medicine. For those interested in TCM, it provides a great intro to the field, and if you have more experience may provide some opportunity to hone your knowledge and skills. Even if not interested in practicing the skills yourself, it is a valuable lesson in medical anthropology. From the broader family medicine perspective, it gives you a great opportunity to share what family medicine and primary care is about in the US to a group of doctors who are very interested in expanding the type of work that they do in China. Highly recommended!
