Elective Rotation: Wilderness Medicine training
Contact: Joel Charles
Location: Banff and Jasper, Alberta Canada
I attended an Advanced Wilderness Life Support course in Banff, Alberta Canada, and did extra field training and independent study to further my wilderness medicine skills. This was a quality training that significantly improved my preparedness for wilderness emergencies. It has also inspired me to go on and acquire my FAWM (Fellowship in Advanced Wilderness Medicine), and eventually my (DiMM) Diploma in Mountain Medicine, which is the peak of wilderness medicine training. With these skills I will be able to be a competent physician on a variety of expeditions, and be adequately prepared for emergencies that should come up on my own adventures into the wilderness.
