Reece Fenning, MD, MPH
University of California, Irvine; Reece was born and raised in Upland, CA. Having grown up near the San Gabriel mountains, he appreciates nature and unique landscapes. His parents who were a child welfare social worker and a rehabilitation counselor for adults with disabilities raised him to have a strong social action and justice framework. After high school, he attended UCLA and studied molecular, cell and developmental biology while working part-time as a teaching assistant. Prior to medical school, he organized medical trips with Global Medical Training to serve low-income international communities in resource poor rural settings.

In medical school, Reece shifted his focus to domestic healthcare issues through his work in health policy education at UCI and obtaining a master’s in public health at UCLA. His master’s research project was in transition-age youth homelessness and substance use, and he completed an internship with Uncommon Good assisting in the development of their pilot low-intensity cognitive behavioral mental health program. When he’s not in practicing medicine, you can find Reece camping, playing boarding games, watching sports, and running with his dog, Daisy. Reece is ecstatic to become a part of the Sutter Santa Rosa family and to explore the area!
