Sherrice Law, MD

California Northstate University College of Medicine.
Born and raised in San Francisco, Sherrice decided on medicine early on, from volunteering at a local nursing home in high school and shadowing her pediatrician. She was drawn to the combination of compassion she saw in long-term care and the problem-solving in the clinic, and realized she wanted a career that held both. She went on to pursue this path through the 3+4 BS/MD program at California Northstate University in the Sacramento area.

Wanting to step outside her comfort zone, she left California between her first and second years of medical school for an intensive eight-week Summer Preceptorship Program in rural Pennsylvania. There, she trained across multiple specialties, including family medicine, women’s health, and pulmonology, while experiencing full-scope rural care, assisting in deliveries, managing inpatient care, and seeing patients across generations. Living in a rural community for the first time, she saw how food deserts, limited specialist access, and insurance barriers shaped care. More importantly, she learned that being a good physician often starts with knowing the community well and tailoring care to what patients can realistically access and accept.

She has remained deeply connected to community-based care throughout medical school. At Clínica Tepati and Shifa Community Clinic, she worked with uninsured Latinx and Middle Eastern patients, providing diabetes counseling, preventive care, and health education. As a Medical Student Representative for the Sacramento Valley chapter of the CAFP, she helped connect students with mentors and write resolutions, strengthening her interest in advocacy and health policy.

Sherrice is also passionate about mentorship. As Co-Lead Director of a Diversity in Medicine Summer Camp, she led a week-long program for over 30 underrepresented students, pairing them with mentors and organizing hands-on clinical workshops. She saw firsthand how representation and guidance can shift confidence and open doors, and she plans to continue mentorship as both an educator and advocate in residency.

She is drawn to Family Medicine for its breadth and continuity, with interests in reproductive and women’s health, procedural medicine, adolescent behavioral health, community medicine, and academic medicine.

Outside of medicine, Sherrice loves exploring new restaurants (she’s a dedicated Yelp user), running, photography, thrifting, traveling, and spending time with her cat Toro!
