Minerva grew up on the island of Taiwan until the age of 8, when her family moved to the San Francisco Bay Area. She attended the University of California, Berkeley, where she studied molecular and cell biology while minoring in music and Chinese language.
After college, drawn to a system of medicine with over 2000 years of history and cultural roots, she pursued a master’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine and became a licensed acupuncturist in California. A volunteer trip to rural villages in Bajrabarahi, Nepal, where she treated patients of all ages using TCM modalities, further shaped her path. There, she saw the vital role of primary care in underserved communities, which strengthened her commitment to accessible, comprehensive care and gave her the final push to apply to medical school.
She attended osteopathic medical school at Pacific Northwest University in Yakima, Washington. During her training, she was a summer research fellow with the Integrative Health and Applied Health Equity (IHEAR) program at the UCSF Osher Center for Integrative Medicine, where she conducted a literature review on acupuncture for chronic pain and contributed to the development of acupuncture protocols for clinical trials. She also completed an immersive global health elective, exploring how political, social, and economic factors contribute to health disparities in Uganda. Additionally, she served as a coordinator and volunteer at the Yakima Union Gospel Mission free medical clinic, providing care to uninsured and unhoused patients in her community.
Minerva is excited to return to Northern California for her residency with the Sutter Santa Rosa Family Medicine Residency Program. She hopes to build a future practice in integrative medicine, with a strong emphasis on preventive care and lifestyle medicine.
Outside of work, she enjoys Argentine tango, playing the piano, solving murder mysteries, painting, and traveling
