Genevra Magliocco, MD, MPH
Boston University School of Medicine.
Genevra grew up in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, before moving to Tampa, Florida, at the age of 15. She began her undergraduate studies at Stony Brook University and later transferred to UC San Diego, where she earned her degree in Molecular Biology. During college, she discovered a passion for advancing education about and access to sexual and reproductive health. She became a student health educator, teaching college students about sexual health, and went on to lead a student organization dedicated to raising awareness about reproductive health inequities and addressing period poverty among people experiencing homelessness in San Diego. |
These experiences sparked her interest in health equity and inspired her to pursue a Master of Public Health at Boston University, with a focus on community-based interventions to improve health outcomes among marginalized populations. During this time, she also volunteered with the case management team at Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program (BHCHP), a medical respite center for patients experiencing homelessness.
In medical school, she continued this work by co-leading student-run organizations focused on improving access and quality of care for low-income and unhoused patients. This included providing labor support alongside doulas for patients with limited social support and continuing collaborative work with BHCHP through her medical school. She also participated in research focused on improving health equity in pregnancy care, including projects assessing maternal disrespect and abuse, and the implementation and efficacy of inpatient treatment protocols for opioid use disorder during pregnancy.
Genevra is excited to move to Santa Rosa and hopes to continue advancing her interests in sexual and reproductive health, obstetrics, addiction in pregnancy, public health, and integrative medicine. Outside of the hospital, she enjoys cooking and baking gluten-free recipes, hiking, skiing, traveling, photography, listening to music, playing the cello, and more recently sewing!
