Afsoon Foorohar, D.O.
Western University of Health Sciences; Afsoon was born in Tehran amidst the Iran-Iraq war. Seeking refuge, her family fled to Sweden, and ultimately settled in America thirteen years later. Her pursuit of integrative medicine began while working as a guest consultant at The Chopra Center. Upon graduating from University of California, San Diego, Afsoon embarked upon her medical career in Osteopathic Medicine, which resonated with her values regarding healthcare and provided an additional modality for treating patients. During her time at Western University of Health Sciences, she was awarded the coveted teaching fellowship, which allowed her to advance her skills in osteopathic manual medicine (OMM) and work in academics as a faculty for the first and second year OMM curriculum. Her experiences during the fellowship and clinical years revealed that her greatest source of motivation is the foundational holistic value created by the trust and partnership between a patient and physician. She looks forward to working with patients on their journey to optimized health and quality of life and hopes to eventually practice family and integrative medicine in a small rural community. In addition to her passion for health and humanity, Afsoon loves being outdoors with her loved ones, reading and discussing literature, oil painting, growing and cooking creative plant-based recipes, and dancing.
