Alec Ludwig, D.O.
Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine; Alec was born and raised in a suburb outside of Detroit, Michigan and attended the University of Michigan for college. As a son of a teacher, Alec’s drive to become an educator started at an early age. Throughout college and prior to medical school, Alec taught young minds as an in-home tutor for elementary to college students in science and math courses. Also, during his time as a wolverine, he spent three summers traveling to Honduras with the organization Global Brigades on medical, public health, and water brigades in rural communities (where he also met his fiancé and co-resident, Tiffani Strickland) to promote global health and sustainable development. His experience working side-by-side with Hondurans in their homes fostered his love for building relationships and put the trajectory of his career toward primary care. Alec always wanted to become an osteopath, and chose to attend the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) campus of Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in order to give back to the city near his home. While in Detroit, Alec launched and led the student organization, Detroit Street Care (DSC), whose mission is to provide primary care to individuals experiencing homelessness on the streets of the Motor City. Given his passion for teaching and primary care, the organization was modeled to facilitate teaching for pre-clerkship and clerkship students while providing high quality medical care for their patients. He can’t wait to continue his mission of providing quality care to this vulnerable population in Santa Rosa. In addition to his work with DSC, Alec developed a passion for patient advocacy and health policy in medical school and became the student alternate delegate for Michigan at the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) National Conference. Alec is ecstatic to join the Santa Rosa community to further nurture his passion for women’s health, osteopathic manipulative medicine, addiction medicine, advocacy and health policy, and caring for vulnerable populations. While not in the hospital, clinic, or on the street with patients, Alec enjoys spending his time at the gym lifting weights, running, cycling, doing anything outdoors, watching Disney or superhero movies, listening to podcasts, and most importantly spending time with Tiffani and their two cats Lilo and Stitch.
