Andrew Pastor, M.D.

Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai; born in Los Angeles and raised in the San Gabriel Valley, Andrew is the son of Jewish Argentine immigrants and Mexican and Filipino step-parents. Initially planning to attend university for classical percussion, he instead opted to attend Mt. San Antonio College where he cultivated an early interest in public health through work as an outreach educator and enrollment specialist during the first Affordable Care Act enrollment period. Upon transferring to UC Berkeley in the fall of 2015, Andrew worked with the Maternal Health division of the Bixby Center for Population, Health, and Sustainability contributing to a project that expanded access to safe abortion and other family planning resources in Rwanda. After graduating with a BS in Molecular Environmental Science and a minor in Comparative Ethnic Studies, Andrew participated in an NIH global health fellowship in Managua, Nicaragua contributing to a dengue and Zika virus longitudinal pediatric cohort study under PI Eva Harris. Throughout his medical education he has found great fulfillment in seeking out alternative settings and opportunities where healthcare providers can play a role bridging accessibility gaps, such as assisting in asylee medical evaluations and working in harm reduction clinics. Andrew is excited to be joining the field of Family Medicine where he hopes to pursue training and practice that is foundationally inclusive and patient-centered while continuing to explore an interest in public policy. In his free time, he enjoys playing music, attending shows, reading fiction (sci-fi and otherwise), watching movies, and going on long walks or bike rides. He is supported by a large family and network of loved ones to whom he is eternally grateful.
