Edna Carolina Prieto, M.D.
University of California, San Francisco; Edna was born in Bogota, Colombia, but grew up in Long Beach, CA. Foreseeing future adventures up north, she moved to the bay area to study psychology at UC Berkeley. While volunteering at a homeless youth clinic, she discovered her calling: working with underserved and adolescent populations. After graduation, she traveled twice to El Salvador to work on a children’s dental health project, seeing first-hand the power of community health workers and sustainability in global health projects. She also worked as a medical assistant at a community clinic in Berkeley before attending the UCSF post baccalaureate program and subsequently attending UCSF medical school. While in medical school she pursued her love for teaching and mentoring every chance she got. Looking forward to joining the Santa Rosa team, she is excited to nurture her passions: integrative medicine, women’s health, and adolescent medicine. When not working, she enjoys exploring Santa Rosa, camping, cooking multi-course dinners, baking yummy treats, and improving her crocheting and sewing skills.
