Eric Wilson, M.D.
University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine; Eric was born and raised amongst the bluffs of the Mississippi River in Dubuque, Iowa. He majored in Math, Economics, and French during his undergraduate work at Iowa State University. In his first two years of an Economics PhD at Duke University, he realized he wanted to take a more direct role in addressing health inequalities. He returned to Iowa to attend the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and found his true calling. In medical school, he volunteered at the Free Medical Clinic, led a first-year seminar focusing on community health, completed summer projects in India learning about their health systems, and was a frequent contributor to The Short Coat podcast. Family Medicine was the perfect choice of specialty to combine his interests in community health, global health, health policy, and the medical humanities. Eric has altogether too many passions outside of medicine and loves to explore the outdoors, cook, read, write, and spend time with his wife and family.
