Jeff Haney, M.D., Program Director and Director of Medical Education
Jeff Haney, M.D. served as the Program Director of the Santa Rosa Family Medicine Residency (SRFMR) from 2009 through 2017. Dr. Haney grew up in Eastern Washington. He attended Washington State University, receiving a B.S. in Biology. Prior to medical school he worked as a youth counselor in rural Southeast Alaska. He eventually attended the University Of Washington School Of Medicine.
His family medicine training brought him to Santa Rosa, where he served as chief resident, faculty member, and associate program director in advance of his current role. In addition to his medical training he has completed the Northern California/UCSF Faculty Development Fellowship and the National Institute for Program Director Development Fellowship.
In 2012 he was awarded the Sonoma County Medical Association: Outstanding Contribution to the Community and in 2008 was the recipient of both the AAFP active teaching award and the Santa Rosa Family Medicine Residency Teacher of the Year. Dr. Haney is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at UCSF. He speaks nationwide at such forums as AAFP Workshops, the CAFP Educational Summit, STFM Annual Conferences, PDW/RPS Conferences and the Northern California/UCSF Faculty Development Fellowship.
He is actively involved in various volunteer and community endeavors including; member of the Committee for Healthcare Improvement – Sonoma County, Co-chair for the CAFP Residency Network, On the Road Faculty for the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, and President of the Sonoma County Academic Foundation for Excellence in Medicine.
He currently spends a great deal of time and energy thinking about educational partnerships, faculty development, family physicians as leaders, and innovative models of primary care. He continues to be blessed to take care of the full spectrum of family medicine patients. Outside of his professional life he spends time with his wife, two children, family and friends. Dr. Haney plans to spend as much time, during the rest of his life, out of doors.
