Laura Vega, M.D.
Keck School of Medicine of USC; Laura was born in Guadalajara, Mexico and grew up since the age of three in the rural Central Valley of California. Her personal encounters with the social and economic barriers in accessing health led her to pursue a career in medicine. As a first generation college student she graduated from UC Davis and afterwards worked as a tutor and mentor at an underperforming high school. She completed the UC Davis School of Medicine Postbaccalaureate Program before entering medical school. While in medical school, her interest in family medicine developed further by becoming a part of the Longitudinal Clinical Community Medicine Experience (LCCME) that allowed her to have additional exposure to primary health professions. Her interests include women’s health, family planning, adolescent medicine, and mentoring within the community. During her free time she enjoys cooking, hiking, working out, and spending time with family and friends.
