Mark Sloan, M.D., M.P.H.
Mark Sloan, M.D., M.P.H., has been a pediatrician for 35 years. He practiced with Kaiser Permanente in Sacramento and Santa Rosa from 1982 to 2014 and was Chief of Pediatrics from 1997-2002. On “retiring” from Kaiser he earned an MPH degree from the University of Minnesota in order to better serve underserved children. Mark is passionate about teaching—he taught his first med student in 1984 and has worked with residents and students ever since. He is also a writer—his book, Birth Day: A Pediatrician Explores the Science, the History, and the Wonder of Childbirth, was a 2010 Northern California Book Awards finalist. Mark teaches both reflective and advocacy writing at the Residency Program and at the University of California San Francisco.
