Olivia Gamboa, M.D.
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine; Olivia is thrilled to be starting her training in family medicine at Santa Rosa. A native of Morganton, NC, Olivia comes most recently from Blue Heaven (you may hear it called Chapel Hill), where she graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. In her third year at UNC, Olivia was a participant in the school’s innovative longitudinal curriculum in Asheville, where she had the opportunity to follow patients for the entire year as well as to sample the area’s fine microbrews and thriving bluegrass scene. Olivia chose family medicine because she enjoys multi-disciplinary problem solving and having close relationships with her patients. She is interested in the full spectrum of family medicine but has a special interest in geriatrics and palliative care. She aspires to be a guide and a comfort to patients and families as they go through the transitions of aging. Prior to medical school, Olivia attended Harvard University, where she graduated with a degree in Anthropology and Public Health. She has also spent time in Latin America and is fluent in Spanish. Olivia is lucky to be joined in Santa Rosa by her loving husband Stephen, who is an emergency physician and the source of most of her medical knowledge. In her spare time, she enjoys competing with her dog for napping space in the sunny spot on the rug and riding her bike everywhere.
