Sevy Gurule, M.D.
University of New Mexico, School of Medicine; Sevy grew up in rural Northern New Mexico with an enormous family and the beautiful high desert at her fingertips. She attended the University of New Mexico, where she studied biology and signed languaged interpreting and became interested in working with language minorities. Coming from a culturally diverse Northern New Mexico along with her Spanish roots have created a passion to work with Spanish-speaking populations. This also prompted work in Ecuador and El Salvador. She thrives on international travel and has volunteered in orphanages across India, hiked Machu Picchu, among other adventures. Sevy spent several years researching the importance of influenza vaccination, which sparked an interest in preventative medicine. Her other medical interests include inpatient medicine, transitions of care, and health literacy and education. She enjoys running long distances, travel, writing short stories, weight training, cooking meals smothered in red chile or stuffed with green, and spending time with family and her fiance.
