Grace Ogungbile, MD
University of Illinois College of Medicine. Grace Ogungbile was born in Ibadan, Nigeria, and lived there until her family migrated to Minnesota when she was seven. When she was fifteen, her family moved to South Jersey, where they lived until 2022. She attended Rider University in New Jersey, where she studied behavioral neuroscience. |
She worked in a microbiology genetics lab all four years, where she developed a love for research. This left her conflicted as she had initially wanted to go into medicine. With the help of mentors, she decided to pursue a master’s in biomedical sciences at Geisinger Commonwealth College of Medicine, which confirmed that medicine was the clearer path. She then attended the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago.
While in medical school, she was able to pursue her research interests and worked in a pulmonary research lab. She also found her passion for primary care, women’s health, and behavioral health during her time with the mobile migrant health clinic. The clinic was created to provide medical care for the Venezuelan migrant population arriving in Chicago and staying at different shelters and police stations in 2023.
She is excited to join the Sutter Santa Rosa Family Medicine Residency to pursue her clinical interest in women’s health (particularly behavioral health surrounding pregnancy and postpartum), adolescent care, family planning, community medicine, and having a holistic approach to patient care. She enjoys making a good cup of coffee, trying out restaurants, and baking in her free time.
