Cambodian Mental Health Group
Partners: Santa Rosa Community Health
People: Lucia Roncali
Our clinic includes Loatians, Vietnamese and Cambodians who survived the years of war and genocide in their home countries (1960-1980) and now live in Santa Rosa. Many of them have residual health problems from those years. The Cambodian Mental Health Group has been meeting since early 2010 and is comprised of Cambodian women who survivied the genocide and refugee camps and who still suffer because of it. The focus of the group is wellness, from food to art to meditation. It is an example of the power of group visits, and resident are welcome to visit, to introduce their own favorite wellness activities, and to use this as a template to develop their own group visits within the clinic!
