Iman Sigman, MD
The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
Iman was born in Illinois before her parents pursued their dream of moving to beautiful Northern California, which she calls home. She moved out to the East Coast to pursue a degree in Chemistry at Wesleyan University, where she also studied Spanish Literature and taught sex ed at local high schools. She decided to pursue medicine while studying in Chile, where her experience helping to facilitate a program for older adults through the local health center helped her to understand healing as collective and health centers as a starting point for community-building.

In medical school, she found herself drawn to opportunities to learn, practice, and teach reproductive justice and social medicine. This included medical-legal support of survivors of gendered and/or political violence seeking asylum, co-leading the free Gynecology Clinic at Clínica Esperanza, organizing with Brown Medical Students for Justice in Palestine, and creating new pre-clinical curricula related to reproductive justice and family policing.
At Sutter, Iman hopes to continue exploring her passions in community health, reproductive justice, and social medicine. She is thrilled to be returning to her Bay Area sunshine, food, and friends. She plans to spend her free time cooking, hiking, reading, and driving to Oakland for tea with her grandma.
