Bao Chau Nguyen, MD
Wayne State University School of Medicine. Bao Chau was born and raised on a small river island in Southern Vietnam for 17 years before immigrating to the US with her family. After completing high school, she attended Cypress College to study Liberal Arts before transferring to University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). While studying for a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, she volunteered at UCLA Mattel Children Hospital, coordinating, and facilitating activities that are safe and appropriate for the developmental, physical, and social needs of pediatric patients. This experience further cultivated her passion for medicine. After graduating, she worked in a research lab, investigating the brain development of fruit flies and had five publications.

During her time in medical school at Wayne State University in Michigan, she served as a board member for various student groups, including Institutional Justice and Inclusion and LGBT People in Medicine, to support the student body. Besides studying and clinical work, she devoted her time to volunteering at different student run free clinics, where she provided medical care for the underserved patients in Detroit and mentored junior medical students. She has an interest in Point of Care Ultrasound, Substance Use Disorder, Diabetes and Endocrinology, and Integrative Medicine. Outside of work, she enjoys playing board games, cooking, running, and drinking boba. She is thrilled to be part of the program and to provide care for the Santa Rosa community.
