Paul Nguyen, DO
Touro University, California. Born and raised in San Jose, California, Paul is the son of Vietnamese immigrants who fled to the United States after the Vietnam War looking for a better future. His parents instilled in him the values of hard work and perseverance as they navigated the complex systems of work and education during his early life. Paul attended UC Irvine for college, where he discovered his passion for medicine and working
with the underserved through volunteering with the Global Medical Training Club. |
He spent his time educating his peers of the complex healthcare system and working with the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Ana helping young children from underserved communities get inspired to learn in school. During the summers, Paul traveled to Nicaragua and Peru, where he assisted in providing free medical care to rural communities alongside local physicians and his fellow peers. These experiences exposed him to the multifaceted dimensions of the social determinants of health and reinforced his desire to go to medical school.
At Touro University, he discovered a love for Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) after personally being healed from a traumatic event. Paul hopes to be able to bring this modality of treatment to help patients heal with their mind, body, and spirit in consideration. He chose family medicine because he wants to build long-lasting relationships with his patients and help patients become advocates for their health. His passions in medicine include working with the underserved, global health, OMT, and preventative medicine. In his free time, Paul enjoys running, roasting and drinking coffee, taking care of his houseplant collection, and cooking. With his background and experiences, Paul is committed to providing compassionate and culturally competent care to his patients.
