While in medical school, her interests in eastern medicine and medical anthropology guided her to learn in countries all over the world including Mexico, Israel, Bhutan, Spain, Guatemala, Belize, New Zealand, Cambodia, Thailand, and Argentina. She is deeply interested in developmental traumas which led her to publish and present her work on prenatal stress exposures and epigenetics at a national conference.
Her yoga journey influenced her current passion for integrative health topics and the incorporation of alternative medicine practices in the western medical framework which led her to pursue Family Medicine. Alysia is excited to continue exploring the realms of integrative health, women’s health, social justice, and trauma-informed care while at Sutter Santa Rosa Family Medicine Residency. When she is not in the hospital, Alysia is leading yoga retreats and classes, traveling, hiking, cooking, and soaking up all the beautiful things that life has to offer.
